Lighthouse Island

It was an early start as 14 boys and staff headed off on our trip to the Isle of May, our purpose - investigate its lighthouses!

With 3 lighthouses on the islands and an abundance of seabirds there was always going to be plenty to see. Add to that the trip on a ferry and the day was destined to be a success.

Once on the island we got to see the remains of the historic fog horn and found out more about how that worked. We got up close to some of the wildlife before spending time in the main lighthouse, built in 1816, and getting to see around light itself.

It wasn't quite so plain sailing home as the wind and waves got up but we braved the weather (and the waves!) outside and made it back down the road in time for dinner.

We'll add more photographs so check back soon!
